What a nice and rare uniform! Colonies! Look!

Look what I found on a photo yesterday! I'm sure it is nearly impossible to find such an uniform

    Sergeant 08,

This is not a colonial uniform. He is a priest. They wore a "Hut" too. And yes, anything from the Geistlichen is difficult to find, even photos. I have been looking for a military priest's armband for decades.

He wore a similar headgear "Hut", that was worn in the colonies (Africa) by the German soldiers, isn't it

I thought a priest who served in the colonies during ww1? Not? It was offered with a lot of other photos from the colonies.

        Sergeant 08,

This "feldgrauer Filzhut" was standard issue for the members of the military clergy, starting in 1913. It has no association with colonial duty. It's just a similar looking hat.

This man could have served in the colonies, but this uniform is not an indication of that. With minor differences in insignia, this uniform was worn by Catholic priests, Protestant ministers and Jewish Rabis alike.

I had no idea ! Thank you for the info! I saw only photos from the ww1, that showed the priests with the known visor caps.

Yes, of course, they had Schirmmützen as well.
