    1907 canteen?

    Hello,
I received this canteen today. I got it with some ww2 items. I don't know much of these canteens. Am I correct that it is a M 1907?

Is it possible to date him more exact?

He's marked at the side of the cap with:

    MET.FAB.MUSSBACH 14

    Can this mean 1914?

I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks a lot,
    Frank

          Hello,
Thanks a lot! I also found out that the soldiers in ww1 carried the cup seperate from the canteen. Among the items I bought with this canteen, was a unmarked cup. Could this be a ww1 german cup, that belonged to this canteen?

Among the alluminium items is also a inlay for a "essgeschirr" It's so large that it would only fit in ww1 food cannisters. Could this also be a ww1 item?

Both are posted in this thread:

          Thanks again!

Yes the cup could be WW1. Cups exactly like this were made in WW1, but without markings it is hard to say. The screw top containers look like WW1 fat containers issued to the soldiers, so it is possible this is all WW1. The burner if WW1, was most likely private purchase. Perhaps this is a WW1 (or pre WW1) German officers utensil group. The kidney shaped container reminds me of a WW1 British officers food container I saw once, it was in it's leather carrier for the saddle. This would explain the lack of issue and maker markings.

No opinions?, i guess if it wasnt marked/stamped with 1914 to 1918 dates it wasnt issued during ww1?

                            Gents,
I never seen an undated umarked authentic WW1 german canteen.
The M07 on this thread has got to have a maker mark and date somewhere?
On the top of the lid, around the lid or on the neck.

                            Eric.
