Hello guys,I recently received these pics for a Iron Cross 1870 prince size with 25year Oak leaf and 1914 spange, the cross itself seems good, but I'm not very sure about the rest...looking for more opinions~

    Happy weekend!

The cross looks like a good Meybauer. I think the rest of it is all modern
    reproductions.

To me it looks like a good Prinzen cross, good ribbon, good oaks, fake WHS. Would help if the photos were smaller so they could be seen as a whole.
      Best regards,

I agree that the oaks might be good. Still not a fan of the spange or
            the ribbon.

Thanks Strep&Greg,I remember I read a thread about WHS 1870-1914 here but I cant find it. I saw no conculsion about Moon-Crown WHS,but I also believe this may not be a good one for the mark of the Wagner...

My firends said he got this one for no more than 1000$,is this a great price for such 1870 EK2? Is it an rare one?

The price is ok even without the WHS, which I would immediately remove and sell as a fake for $100 if I were him.
                  Best regards,

Here's a link to a thread in which Trevor points out that this type of WHS is fake:

                    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=978732

Another option would be to destroy the fake spange, lest it fall into the hands of someone else who tries to pass it off as the real deal down the road again.

                      Sorry,
I'm not a expert in this field and I asked this :

The 1870 crosses haven't always the ring unmarked ?

                          Well spotted

That is the only known and accepted makers mark on Type-A 1870s
and it is very very rare. We have only seen maybe 3 or 4 of these over the years.

The mark is LL and depending book which book you believe could belong
to either "L. Lauer" or "Louis Lemcke" .

I attaching an enlargement of the maker's mark and also a picture
of another known original for comparison.
