Bulgarian St Alexander Order 3rd class

I would appreciate help with the Bulgarian Order of St Alexander 3rd class - commander cross, awarded during WW1 to Prussian military (in 1916). I have two questions:

    1. They appear to have white and green enamel, but I am uncertain if this difference in color was for to distinguish civil and military recipients, or if the color difference donated peacetime / wartime award dates?

    2. I would imagine that military recipients would have had swords associated with the decoration, but I have seen swords in two different positions - within the cross and below the crown. Is this just a variation based on a different model of the award (early versus late) or was it again related to wartime / peacetime award dates?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Update

So I have been informed that the green enamel was introduced after 1908 and that the award of the swords was as follows:

    1. Within the cross for heroic action on the field of battle
    2. Below the crown for military merit.

However I have found a third version with the green enamel that has no swords.... any ideas or help would be welcome.

Yes, from there you will find all necessary info. For this case, shortly:

"Commander’s crosses awarded after the declaration of Independence had cross arms enamelled in dark-green and instead of the familiar central medallion on the obverse, now there was a gilded lion rampant on a dark red background with superimposed Saxon escutcheon on its chest. The outer ring and reverse remained the same."

Bulgarian orders are quite nice and pretty affordable, I have quite some in my collection too, but not that one yet
