    Vaulted EK1 screwback

    Hello,
I'm posting this for a friend of mine. To me it looks like a nice Imperial EK1 with an unusual/hard to find screwback type, but can anyone identify the maker and time period it was produced? Or maybe it's a jeweler made type?
    Thank you,
    Dale

I also just noticed while looking at the photos that it may have had an even bigger back plate disk on it at one time, though it looks like the smaller disk on it now has been there a long time. Could it have had two metal disks on it before or just one larger disk that was later replaced by the smaller one? I searched the forum but only found one example of this cross here - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...back+ek1+stars.

                Hi,

Indeed this type of screwbacks used to have a backplate and nut as in your case. Although that backplate has been cut or maybe is not part of the original set. To me the core is a generic one used by several makers, but the nut reminds me of DOVs (Deutsche Offizier Verein) crosses.

                Cheers, Alex

Alex, is correct. This style cross was sold through the DOV.

Thanks, guys, I knew someone here would know the answer. I'll tell my friend it's a nice one and then see if he'll sell it to me, but I sure won't blame him if he wants to keep it!
