Here are 8 detailed photos of my DOV EK1 1914. This first photo is of the obverse. The only marking on the cross is on the reverse, marked 800.

I was lucky enough to find this nice cross on (gasp!) eBay, but I purchased it only after posting the photos on this forum and having it verified as original.

Hi Kay,

I guess I am not comfortable with this core type being referred to as "Deutsche Offizier Verein". Imo it is THE most generic core found on 1914EK1s.

I still hold that Deutsche Offizier Verein was nothing more than a supplier for an organisation, not a producer, who sourced from elsewhere and had specially marked screwdisks manufactured.

Kay,

The 'Deutsche Offizier Verein' was an officer's association or co-operative. A non-royal version of a 'Hoflieferant' if you will. They were not manufacturors but they did procure better quality military regalia for it's members. Besides decorations there are various edged weapons marked with the 'Deutsche Offiziers Verein' logo. A similar organization was 'Warenhaus fur Armee und Marine, Berlin'. Again not a manufacturor but a supplier.
