    Unfortunately your friend is right.

According to regulations the KVK ribbon should be placed in second place after the EK.

All the Kyffhauserbund medal ribbons I can see online are very thin banding, the medal bar looks spot on for kvk ribbon

Although it being removed speaks more for a denazified bar and therefore KVK. It would be interested to place both medals on the bar to see which one fits better.

If it was a KVK we would expect to see a Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer aswell.

After looking closer at the ribbons of the both KVK and KM and the bar in question - I am changing my mind and going with Kyffhauser.

                Would be logical.

Yes, the Kyffhäuser Denkmünze is most suitable at this place.

But I am not sure, if this is the right KDM ribbon - may be the KVK ribbon was used (or replaced). Also the swords are in later style, like used for KVK or Hindy ribbon bars. Swords for KDM were rather thin., with long grips.

                  greetings
