          It shouldn't be mounted with a Hindenburg Cross. The 1870-71 Combattant's Medal should be on that ribbon.

              And what's even more weird is that this bar has also a 4 year service medal of the whermacht and an austrian fur verdienst cross.

                But this bar comes out of an noble prussian family estate and has never been in any collection.

                  Then the cross is remounted, it should be the 1914 ek2. The 1870 is original.

                    As it's not unheard of veterans 1870 still serving in 1914.

                        Checking at that bar. I believe the 1914 should be there.

                        Let's think he was 20 when he won the EK2 1870 (born 1850). Having a look at the Wehrmach tone, he was at least 85 when he was in the Wehrmacht.
