Yes, that one has many differences when compared.

Based on details and quality it still looks promising, though very unusual badge.

Maybe someone else has a word of two to say, let's see.

It's not unusual for a badge not to match one in a catalogue. I like this badge a lot. It appears to have fire gilding, and is of the quality expected from Meybauer. If memory serves me right, these sub badges were not initiated until 1918 (or is that the wound badge?) Many jewelers did have more than one die and they often purchased medals and badges from other makers and put their "brand" on the product. Very similar to the way jewelers purchased dies and/or cores from different sources and foundries when they made Iron Crosses.

The mark on the reverse is sloppy. The disk/anti rotation pin hints at a late 30s to 45 piece but is the disk a good one for the period or a known fake? Ask the TR boys on the crosses forum about the disk. If it is bad then I don't have any hope for the badge either. There are good fakes out there with bogus Meybauer marks.

The sub badges were made from 1918 on through WWII. The disk looks like a good one. There may be repo disks out there, but this one matches the types that Assman used. It may be a 1930's made badge, but it is a struck badge, not a cast one like many of the repos are. The details of the strike are very crisp, and I would not worry about the light strike of the logo. That happened frequently. You see it a lot on the Schot and Schwerin badges, which cause a lot of conspiracy theories and tales about fake u-boat badges. I can remember a huge Bru-Haha a few years ago about the Schwerin badges without propellors. That one died out when some vets were photographed and published with the prop-less Schwerins. I would have this badge in my collection.

To me, small pin on top and the details were convincing for this one and I believe it to be 30s-40s piece as per the details I can see.
