Quite a beautiful presentation piece from the Officer Korps of 144th (5th Lotharingian) Infantry Regiment (I think) to a Leutnant Buisson.

Could you please take a better picture of the brass plate on the base to verify that I read the correct regimental number?

                art

How tall is the statue? It looks nice though I think the artist who created it was not into all the details of the uniform and equipment. If this is a pre-war item I would expect the leather items to be brown and not black. Also, the collar is not the normal stand-and- fall style for this infantry tunic and what it shows is the collar style associated with cavalry units. Apparently the regiment was not supplied with the Gewehr 98 as this is an old model rifle. Perhaps the artist was looking at an old image and made a few changes? So much for details, it is a nice looking statue.

I found a Leutnant Buisson who served as Leutnant in WW1, but as we do not know his first name we can not be sure

                      new paint

After thinking about it I believe the statue was originally painted in pre-war dark blue for the tunic and black for the trousers and was given a coat of "field grey" to make it more modern. The actual field grey tunic also had slash pockets which this one does not have.

What can be the correct price for this sculpture?

I dont't know the exact word in English.
It's like bronze but more light. It's called "RĂ©gule" in French.
