I had no way of photographing it, unfortunately, but earlier today I came across a ribbon bar with a ribbon similar to this one:
The difference was that it was yellow (not faded, a distinct 1897 Prussian centenial yellow), and that the black half was on the right.
It was on nice little ribbon bar with a 1914 EK and a Third Reich Kriegsverdienstmedaille before it, and a Hindenburg Cross with swords. I would have scooped it up, but the dealer insisted on keeping it as part of an utterly improbable "the vet said he took them off the same person" grouping. (How many WWI-vets earned a civilian war merit decoration and a PAB?!?) Still, I'm curious as to what that ribbon is...
