    Ribbon ID?

I had no way of photographing it, unfortunately, but earlier today I came across a ribbon bar with a ribbon similar to this one:

The difference was that it was yellow (not faded, a distinct 1897 Prussian centenial yellow), and that the black half was on the right.

It was on nice little ribbon bar with a 1914 EK and a Third Reich
Kriegsverdienstmedaille before it, and a Hindenburg Cross with swords. I would have scooped it up, but the dealer insisted on keeping it as part of an utterly improbable "the vet said he took them off the same person" grouping. (How many WWI-vets earned a civilian war merit decoration and a PAB?!?) Still, I'm curious as to what that ribbon is...

    Thanks,
    Chris

Did the ribbon have light color (light grey or silver) edging?

If so the only thing found (based on colors) is the Firefighting Decoration in Silver for Sachsen-Anhalt. It might explain the KVM.

    More knowledgeable collectors will know.

No edging at all - just yellow and black.

Sounds like the silver or gold civil grade of the Duke Carl Eduard medal of Sachsen-Coburg u. Gotha. The military version required that the recipient have some grade of the SEHO. I only have this ribbon on a buttonier, and no example of the medal to show, but there is an military example here on Dave Danner's site, towards the bottom of the page: http://home.att.net/~david.danner/mi...saxecoburg.htm

That's definately the one - the yellow is spot on.

          Thanks,
