I saw these go up for auction a few days ago. I was really tempted to bid on them given where they came from. I doubt they are fakes given the relatively high quality of the pieces. They sold for $1,700 for the whole lot. Should I have bid...?

IMO cheap. The Order of Franz Joseph officer's cross alone is quite scarce, especially cased. The Austrian red cross officer's pin-back cross is also hard to find. Those two pieces alone are probably worth the price and more. -
Agree! Very nice pieces for real bargain. There's also Bulgarian civil merit cross, neck order, worth IMHO another 4-500, don't know about Hungarian red cross award and Maltese cross. Could be a grouping of WW1 doctor (higher ranked) that worked in Balkan area, hence awards from Bulgaria and Prussia.Comment
