It's a neat looking piece, but I wouldn't call it an "older PLM." Some believe this type may have been made before WWII, and others believe it is simply a postwar copy. Personally I think it's possible that some of this type were manufactured before the end of WWII but that the vast majority are postwar copies.
I have to say the workmanship on yours looks quite good. Did you test the loop (only) or also the corpus of the cross for gold?
Also, love to see the case and minis.
Thank you for posting the piece; every PLM is a learning opportunity.Best regards,

I know the PLM is not a Godet, it's marked "W".
I also realize the case is not marked Godet but was told by the local "expert" it was similar to the pre 1916 Godet style?
As far as PLM cases are concerned, I wouldn't know one from the other to be honest because I haven't handled them.
This is not my area of expertise so I'm simply asking and appreciate your input.Last edited by 25thlight; 07-22-2015, 08:28 AM.

Looks like a possible PP piece. I have a problem with some of the inconsistencys , may just be because of wear...or lower quality workmanship.
It being gold may have just been an option. Looks like you are trying to decide if you are going to purchase it or not. It's worth the gold content at least...I don't like that it doesn't have the balls on the top arch on each end. Dimples seem a bit deep...but it does seem like it has age and wear on it from wearing. Don't think you'll get the answer you seek here...you will have to decide by the seat of your britches on this example.
