...it came to me this way. Came from Weitze. it was an error... I punched in a wrong stock number, and got this - kept it anyway. It's pretty. Only 5000 or so awarded, I understand.
The ribbon is a bit paler than shown; cornflower would be a good description:

That is a nice little piece. I was amazed at how small these are! It is funny how looking at things on the internet with no scale can build expectations. These seem delicate for a Prussian award.
... there was only one version awarded, so I can offer no explanation as to yours being un-gilded... unless it was dipped/polished to "the bone" as it were...
I dont rule that out, but doubt it partially at the same time (does that make sense?)
The base metal is Brass... why not gild that right away? Instead it is silvered, and even in the recesses there is no trace of gold.
