    Prussian Crown Order Medal

Appears to be one-piece, gilded bronze... not too sure, though...

    ...1916-17 construction?

      Gorgeous, but......

........ looks like it's on a LS Ribbon. POC ribbon is "cornflower" blue. As for era, I'd say a bit earlier with the pierced crown.

Nice Ralph. Did this come off a medal bar sometime back and end up on this?

          no...

...it came to me this way. Came from Weitze. it was an error... I punched in a wrong stock number, and got this - kept it anyway. It's pretty. Only 5000 or so awarded, I understand.

The ribbon is a bit paler than shown; cornflower would be a good description:

              Ralph,
That is a nice little piece. I was amazed at how small these are! It is funny how looking at things on the internet with no scale can build expectations. These seem delicate for a Prussian award.

The one I picked up is silvered brass, never ever had a gold coloring.

Does anyone know if there was a special version for even lower awards than the regular medal?

                        Thanks
                        Chris

                          Chris....

... there was only one version awarded, so I can offer no explanation as to yours being un-gilded... unless it was dipped/polished to "the bone" as it were...

I dont rule that out, but doubt it partially at the same time (does that make sense?)
The base metal is Brass... why not gild that right away? Instead it is silvered, and even in the recesses there is no trace of gold.
