Bavarian Officer Medal Bar
Hi All,
I would like to show you my most recent acquisition. It is a nice Bavarian Officer Medal Bar with 6 medals / orders from 4 Countries/States:
Prusia: Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914
Bavaria: Militär Verdienst-Orden 4. Klasse mit Schwertern.
Germany: Frontkämpfer-Ehrenkreuz 1934
Bavaria: Prinzregent Luitpold-Medaille in Bronze am Band der Jubiläumsmedaille
Austria: Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen 2. Klasse mit Kriegsdekoration.
Hungary: Weltkriegs-Erinnerungsmedaille 1929.
The Bavarian MVO is a typical Jacob Leser one (the flames are a clear give away), with center in Gold, so it was made before 1917. The Enamel for both MVO and Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen have no damage.
Who could have got this Medal Bar? Well a Bavarian Officer, not necessarily a sanitary one. Let’s remember that the Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen was raised as Commemoration of the 50 years of the Geneva Convention. Also, the main scenario here we can locate it in the East Front, for example it could have been in the battle of Gorlice-Tarnów, where the 11th Bavarian division fought just besides of the X Austro-Hungarian Army Corps just besides Rychwald.
Best Regards
Heran
