    Bavarian Officer Medal Bar

    Bavarian Officer Medal Bar

    Hi All,

I would like to show you my most recent acquisition. It is a nice Bavarian Officer Medal Bar with 6 medals / orders from 4 Countries/States:

Prusia: Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914
Bavaria: Militär Verdienst-Orden 4. Klasse mit Schwertern.
    Germany: Frontkämpfer-Ehrenkreuz 1934
Bavaria: Prinzregent Luitpold-Medaille in Bronze am Band der Jubiläumsmedaille
Austria: Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen 2. Klasse mit Kriegsdekoration.
    Hungary: Weltkriegs-Erinnerungsmedaille 1929.

The Bavarian MVO is a typical Jacob Leser one (the flames are a clear give away), with center in Gold, so it was made before 1917. The Enamel for both MVO and Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen have no damage.

Who could have got this Medal Bar? Well a Bavarian Officer, not necessarily a sanitary one. Let’s remember that the Rot Kreuz-Ehrenzeichen was raised as Commemoration of the 50 years of the Geneva Convention. Also, the main scenario here we can locate it in the East Front, for example it could have been in the battle of Gorlice-Tarnów, where the 11th Bavarian division fought just besides of the X Austro-Hungarian Army Corps just besides Rychwald.

    Best Regards

    Heran

I think it could be an bavarian doc. - he has the EZ vom RK 2.Klasse mit KD (with
war decoration) - normally the war decoration was only given to Frontkämpfer; the
ones without KD you could get for donation to the kuk. Red Cross.
He got an early Leser one bevor 1916 - so may be he had a rank of an oberarzt.
I think in 1918 he was a Stabsarzt.

The bar is a typícal Freistaat one - "southern styled".

      Gruss.

Thank you all for your kind words. Thank you also römischIX for your more than interesting Analyse.

My next one "should" be another Bavarian Ordensspange with MVO and the Baden Orden vom Zähringer Löwen. See how it goes.

By the way, this is how my collection now looks like.

              Best Regards
