Study of TWMs - *

The second in the series of TWM study threads, this time * (asterix) marked TWMs. Demir Erman identifies these medals as Austrian made. * means the medal does not contain any valuable metal (such as silver).

I have only two * marked TWMs, please feel free to contribute if you have one as well. I tried to compare the front pieces (tugra, date and the gazi plates) and on the reverse the catch and pin mechanism and the position of the little rivets that hold the front elements (two rivets for each plate)


This thread contains only the basic information on this particular maker, hopefully we can discover new pieces, information and new evidence about this maker and develop this thread.

Comparison of the texture on the arms. Notice the left one lacks the outer lining so the red enamel surface is bigger on the arm but the texture remains the same.

Positions of the little rivets on the back. The gazi plate has rivets much closer to each other on the left one but other than that they look the same.

Isn't this asterisk mark the same to be found on C. F. Zimmermann made Iron Crosses?

I tend to think this is not an Austrian mark here!
