A very fine miniature chain, I congratulate.

I find interesting the imperial Austrian Militärverdienstkreuz III Class with KD: the German jeweller made a miniature after a very early type, from 1859-'60, when the decoration was first white enamelled (the 1849 type had the red enamel only), and still retaining that tiny detail of the line-dot-line under the "VER/DIENST" motto, disappeared from 1860 onwards.

KD means Kriegsdekoration, or War Decoration. It refers to the wreath around the Austrian Militärverdienstkreuz III Class, which is present only on those awards earned for bravery in war.

A very nice chain, whose original owner - if it's not messed with - might even be idetifiable.



The combination looks unique enough...
