I still have not received the requested photos, and yes, I noticed that two of the screwposts were broken off. What threw me off looking at these was that the parts and pieces looked ok, they just seemed to be a bit Frankenstein to be honest, I am glad you guys can recognize the mix and match of parts.
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...
    All the best,
    Chris

I agree that the pin on the pillowback looks like Meybauer or Godet, based on the photo. The catch doesn't tell us anything because it's been replaced anyway. The cross is probably original, but the repair hurts its value a little.

Most of the pillowbacks I've seen (that I like) have a thin wire type pin. Does anyone know what the mark is that is typical for a pillowback ek is? Rothe & Neffe? I'd post a pic for a comparison between it and a Meybauer mark, but I'm too rusty with my FTP stuff.

Some did in fact have a bulbous pin, but many had the wire pin you describe. Many pillowbacks are unmarked, but some were made by AWS, who produced screwback pillowback versions as well.

Any idea who made this one? It has a TR style frame and a non-magnetic core.

                  I have no idea.

George, what type of metal are the frames made of? I've seen this type of EK1 come with everything from plated brass frames to .925 silver. Cores can be both magnetic or nonmagnetic. Different styles of screw discs, too.

One would think that this "unique" style of rear frame would have been patented.

                    George,

Here's an unmarked one very much like yours (well, not really! ). It has a plated brass front frame, a SILVER rear frame(!), but the core is magnetic and it's a pinback. Sorry for the bad pics.

Eric, does AWS have a fancy Meybauer-esque TM? I've seen the bulbous pins too- they kind of protrude crudely past the hinge, right?

Yeah, pins stick out away from the hinge

AWS, but you can probably find better images if you do a search. They made very high quality examples.

Either my eyes suck or I've just never seen a shot so close. In any case this is the first time I've seen the lettering inside that TM. Thanks Eric!
