    Hi streptile,

    Think your right there, not really worth faking, the pin looks to have been there forever, and no signs of a previous pin or marks, so maybe just another unknown Company pin set up.

      You might notice too that the auction example's description says "pin broken off" and that one of the arms has enamel damage, so this is not an optimum example to compare with, if yours is in better shape.

      Regardless, I agree with Streptile that $200 is a lot for a veteran's medal. There are very few types that climb above $100. I'm thinking of the popular enameled series of commemorative medals that say, Champagne, Verdun, Somme and Argonne (not sure about the last one). They are beautiful and seemingly quite desirable, but can be had for around $125 each.
