The EK2 is not "C-square"- it's from an unattributed maker that used a square punch. The punch on your version is partly obliterated due to the curvature os the ring. There have been multiple threads on this mystery maker. They made high quality items.

I would hold onto the screwback until more info is perhaps found out about the "swan" chop. Otherwise you will probably see it being reoffered on the eStand at a 100%+ markup (if my suspicions prove to be correct).

Can we see a better picture of it?

I have a typical swing arm light of 60watts on each end of the bench. I place the medal between the lights on a backdrop of either blue or black velvet ensuring the light is not directed right at the medal. I place the camera right between and just below the lights and take the shot. (No flash) I'm still playing with the black/white settings. Nice thing about a digital is if I don't like what I see, just shoot it over. I'm also finding that on the macro setting, I get a little better pic if I DON'T get too close. Then I just edit the photo.

Thanks to all for the help.
Looks like you're off to a good start, IMHO.

        Eric,

This is as close as I can get and save it. I also rotated it to what I believe is the proper viewing position. Sure looks like a "swan" to me. I can zoom in on my viewer, just can't save it any larger. I thank my daughter who's young eye's caught this.

Chris, Thanks for the compliment. These EK's deserve a little "mood".

            Gents,
Could the "swan" instead be a Rothe & Neffe shield? It could be a poor marking, but think on it.

              Marc,

I was thinking the same thing. A friend suggested that, but not knowing my rear end from a hole in the ground, I didn't want to say anything. What do you think it's worth? I've had it for years and I haven't a clue what I paid for it, although I can say with some certainty it wasn't much. I think the fella I bought it from thought it looked a little "worn" for his tastes.
