The Zähringer Löwe order is one of my favorites, beautiful!

Plan to have one someday .. Yours are very beautiful!

How about reproductions? Are they easy to spot?

    All the best ..

      Hello guys,

Very nice bars and Orders. The Zähringen Lion is one of my favorite Imperial Orders too. Here are two Zähringen Lion bars from my collection:

      Best regards,
      Tom

        Tom, very nice bars.

I have already long time been looking and admiring those Zähringer Löwen crosses in pictures, and now finally when I got my own ones, I have to say those for sure they are not the last ones I will get for my collection. They are r e a l l y beautiful - I like especially that color of green glass in them.

Nice bar, Ron. I haven't seen that Schlesien Eagle also before this - looks nice too

Yes, a very nice bar in interresting combination.

The only thing that's not nice about it is the Hohenzollern house order which seems to be a post-WW2 (wearer's?) copy.

Interesting bar, Ron. You don't see the Meiningen award very often on mounted groups. I agree with Sascha that the HOH looks like a Spangenstueck.

Here is another. Can someone explain who would have gotten the oakleaves to this order? Was it purely a rank distinction?

Yes it was, and the wearer of your bar was probably a Hauptmann/Rittmeister der Reserve/der Landwehr.

                      Nice bar!

Hmmm.... I feel stupid asking this, but what is the difference between 1st and 2nd class knights cross...? I mean, how to recognize which class the cross is?

                          Pretty simple-

Both have the same appearence, but the 1st class has the "frame" made from gold while the 2nd class has the "frame" made from silver.

When a silver one has some patina it sometimes has a golden appearance, so you should take a second look as always before you buy

Btw here´s mine, a second class with oaks. Beside the EK, HOHX, RAO(X) my absolutly favourite imperial order. So much detail and expression, just an impressive work of art!

                              Thanks Andy.

That is what I thought it should be but like you said, I was confused with pictures I have seen since some 2nd class crosses might look like golden/gilded so I was wondering...

I have ordered a pile of books recently and hope to learn from them more about these with others.... Just have to wait until get them and then have to start reviving my German language skills
