Thought so.. I would venture...
... That this case is very early in the war and the award was to a Saxon, or Württemburger officer. Remember that both Württemburg & Saxony favored trifolded ribbons (early on) as well as Austrian. If this was an Austrian private-purchase piece, I would expect to see the more traditional, Austrian style case. Also note that the Laurel Leave wreath is a more Germanic symbol, not Austrian. Beautiful piece for sure. Wish I had pix of the other one still, it would help you find an EK stud to fill that hole!

Thanks Rick, The nice thing is that I have three more cased EK2 for the Austrian fold. These cases have become extremely hard to find. Three years ago it was hard but not difficult. Now the supply seems to be exteremly limited.
