    Hi Dion,

can you post a picture of the soldering?

Here is a comparison with the Jubilee type which is discussed on WAF and on the SDA with mixed outcome.

    and

However your EK2 looks like it is made with much much better quality. That's why I ask for signs of resoldering such a core in a ww1 frame?
If not resoldered could this be a good/ unknown version of a 1870 Jubilee?

    Best regards,
    Michel

I have to wait for better light Morel. Iam no expert on these but all I can say is it came from a secure private source, I highly doubt it was placed in the find. If its an unknown variant and hope it helps with any research.

        Dion,

Don't get me wrong I'm not condemning/labeling this piece a fake.
I find it very interesting as this seems to be a quality frame with a nicely detailed core (in contrary to the piece with the odd ring loop and badly cast core I used for comparison). So I want to see the soldering to check if these are just as nice as the cross itself seems.

        Best regards,
        Michel

          Hi Morel

I knew you werent saying that. Ill post better pics today . IAm just learning about 1870s and if I did not know how it was found I would be completely lost on it. Iam happy to know it may be of some importance as a variant and will photo the soldering up today. Need some time to have coffee and wake up though. I really hope it is an undiscovered type...my friend over here in Germany jokingly called it a D Type.

I don't see anything wrong with the soldering. So the craftsmanship is there.

Lets see if more of this type turn up!

              Best regards,
              Michel
