Hi Carl,
Interesting idea, and since it is the only one marked only "Godet" of course I considered that possibility very seriously.
But for a variety of reasons, all of them very compelling, I rejected it as a possibility.
I am convinced that the "Godet Berlin" button is J. Godet's first postwar button. Exactly how long they used it, I don't know.
But I know it is not a Gebr. Godet button.
Here are a few clues among many others (same chain):Last edited by streptile; 07-31-2011, 02:28 PM.Best regards,

Incidentally, the images above also support your other point that this button was used at least til 1934 -- since it was clearly used after the merger between Godet and Werner, which was around 1929.
So I think this type, which we're calling J3 for ease of reference here in this thread, should be revised to read 1919 - 1934 (earliest possible end date).Best regards,

It think these three are still missing.
1st one, "I. GODET ... "probably circa or pre 1900, with an unidentified ribbon:

2nd one, slightly later, about 1900/1905, now with "J. GODET ... ":

3rd one, WW2 era Gebr. Godet:

Very good Sascha! I think the 1st and 2nd is probably a bit earlier. Here's a thread about the 2nd ones:

Sorry for the long delay in reply. That GODET ring mark is reasonably common, and I would agree with you that it is similar, but not the same, as yours.
Here is it on a Prussian War Help Cross:

This cased Godet PLM mini recently sold as part of a larger PLM lot on emedals.com. But what caught my eye is the name and address for Godet on the inside case lid as opposed to the Godet name on the button. This leads me to question whether this mini actually goes with this case. And regarding the street address for J. Godet & Sohn AG in the case, Unter den Linden 53, this doesn't match the address printed on my J. Godet & Sohn AG packet, posted earlier in the thread, which reads Unter den Linden 12. So it appears the company may have moved down the street as some point. Your comments and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Best, Alex

I think it unlikely that two Godet companies effectively in competition with each other would share parts to the extent that one would provide the other with a 'rival' maker marked case - but NOTHING is known about what the overlap of the company separation was or what sort of relationship the Brothers Godet had with Jean Godet so it's not beyond the realms of possibility I guess.
The much more likely scenario though is that a collector or a dealer have paired the mini and the case up.
I'd be happy to own either!
