Your medal is in marvelous condition, and thank you for the new photos!
Very nice!
Best regards,
Thanks for your comments, Ron. I've always liked the simple yet elegant design of this medal. I really like your cased medal with swords set as well. I owned one of these myself years ago while I was living in Austria. But I've never seen a miniature version like the one with your cased set. The detail on it is exactly like the full size medal. Very nice. Thanks for sharing your pics!
Been watching the thread progress and had been planning to start an Austrian award thread in the International section, as there just doesn't seem to be much interest here. Not sure why.
Anyway, I have a few. They are nice and some have a nice old quality of workmanship put into them.
Very nice Tim. And fyi, the purpose of the Imperial Forum is "Imperial Militaria ForumThe discussion and study of Imperial German awards and of their Central Powers Allies from the First World War." vr d

Yes I know, and agree this should be the place as it does say "and of their Central Powers Allies". However, I honestly don't see much posted unless it's on a +5 place medal bar or something that has an EK associated with it.
I see a few past threads that have little if any replys. Anyway, lets see where this one goes. Austrian awards are varied and quite interesting IMO.
I agree Tim. The "Central Powers" thing is a recent change. IMO Austrian awards have a quality and craftsmanship on par with anything produced by the German States.
I wonder if the "handshake" motif on these pieces is meant to symbolize the union beteen Austria and Hungary? Reminds me of the SED Party badges from the DDR.
All very nice pieces shows here guys.
Best regards,
