And on that note, I will have to bow out of this discussion now.

I have enjoyed sparring with you Jim - (and so CIVILY!!) but really have nothing substantial to add from here on in...

At this point, and despite a very valiant effort - I have to say I remain thoroughly resolute in my belief that the Dead-Eye PLM is NOT a period piece, is not made by Wagner and is certainly not produced using the dies for Wagners hollow gold PLM's.

Tp your credit, if you'd been pitching the dead-eye as a 30's or 40's piece with the same forensic vigour, you may well have attracted a little more interest......

    Cheers Jim...

Ah, the tiniest little hairline crack in the Macadam!

Thanks, Marshall, it is likewise always a pleasure to "cross swords" with you--and you save me from turning into a "blog," too! .

You still don't seem to get my point that the lay of enamel is not an accident of magic "settling around" the metal; rather it is being allowed to settle on top of it in all these cases, through substantially deliberate formation by the maker, and representing stylistic choice of how to bare the exposed metal of the crown vs. how the crown has been grossly shaped in the stamping process. I strongly believe the latter would be seen as a rather simple outline, if anyone had the guts to crack the enamel off the area in a hollow gold (yeah, right!). I haven't seen any images of gold PlMs substantially chipped at the crown--would love to know if anyone has one.

I know...will start a Prussian Crown thread ("blog" likely) and keep "chipping" away at your defences. Resistance is useless!

      Until next time, my friend!

Oh...I just can't resist...(and I know you will see it Marshall!)

Attributed hollow silver Wagner from Medalnet...lookin' a little bowtie-ish here...
