Your ribbon does not match the device, nor will the cross. Honestly, if I were you I'd rather not mount it all.

Regarding the ribbon: I'm pretty sure there is no difference if a Grand Cross is worn on sash or neck but the width.

Correct ribbon for a RAO GK with swords depends on the wearer: A Prussian (or other German) wearer would receive it on black and white ("EK") ribbon, while a foreign recipient would wear it on statutory ribbon, as if it had no swords.

So a Austrian trimount would be a 40mm RAO (not 50?), my supplier did not have a 40mm so i bought a 50mm. So far never saw any KD's in Prussian style so a EK ribbon would be wrong.

Have no RAO3 yet but if i get one will probably add the star to it just for display.

Is it a Red Eagle Grand Cross ribbon, or just a Red Eagle ribbon?

        These are different...

In Nimmergut's Handbuch, vol. 2, there are pictures of RAO grand cross Kleindekorationen.

Is below pic from the same book Sacha? Found the RAO1mEl today on Ebay and it's already gone for 750€

Could you help me with the translation of the letter? If the pic is good enough.

            Very interesting that he claims Godet to be the sole maker of these Kleindekorationen!<!-- End Description --><!--v.rpn303,RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7jkrk9%3Fv%7F.rpn303-12b87685d88--><SCRIPT type=text/javascript>vjo.ctype("vjo.darwin.tracking.sojourne r.SojData").props({sojD:null}).endType();vjo.ctype ("vjo.darwin.tracking.sojourner.CalData").props({s etData:function(svcId,data){if(!svcId||!data){retu rn;}this.cal[svcId]=data;},getData:function(svcId){if(svcId){return this.cal[svcId];}}}).inits(function(){this.cal={};}).endType();vj o.ctype("vjo.darwin.tracking.sojourner.TrackingRes pHdl").needs(["vjo.darwin.tracking.sojourner.SojData","vjo.darwi n.tracking.sojourner.CalData"]).props({handleResponse:function(msg){if(msg.error s&&msg.errors.length>0){this.vj$.SojData.sojD="";} if(msg.response&&msg.response.dataMap&&msg.respons e.dataMap.SOJDATA){this.vj$.SojData.sojD=msg.respo nse.dataMap.SOJDATA;}if(msg.response&&msg.response .dataMap&&msg.response.dataMap.TDATA){this.vj$.Cal Data.setData(msg.svcId,msg.response.dataMap.TDATA) ;}}}).endType();</SCRIPT>

It sure is and in very good condition but was bloody expensive. Most interesting thing is the Godet connection, wonder if that letter is for real.

Here's a RAO GK Kleindekoration, still have not found one with swords.

Klasse. Durch den Ausbruch des 1. Weltkriegs wurden nur sehr wenige
                      Kleindekorationen angefertigt.
Prachtexemplar in feinster Berliner Juweliersqualität. Ordensdekoration von außerordentlich
                      großer Seltenheit.
Meines Wissens das einzige Exemplar dieser Kleindekoration, das in Sammlerhand bekannt
                      ist. KK 1677.
