      last for today:
Ferdinand Karl Friedrich von KUSSEROW, 1792-1855, went aD as char.GL 14.10.54 54 from the 27th Infantry Brigade. His awards mentioned in the Priesdorff volumes are quite thin, just the EK and the Russian George 5th class are mentioned. But his picture shows him quite well decorated.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
He started his career as a surgeon! In 1813/14 he was Bataillon surgeon of the Füsilierbataillon 1st Guards Regiment, earned EK2 and Russian George 5th class. In 1815 he was promoted SekLt. Most of the following years he spend as a General staffer. In the 1831 uprising in Neufchatel he distinguished himself quite good that he was “vonned” by the King. He took part in the 1849 campaign in Baden, earned his Baden Zähringer Löwe and what looks like a Red Eagle with swords in 2nd position on this medal bar. After that he went then in the Hohenzollern Principalities to work on the state contract of the overtake of the Principalities by the Prussian Kingdom. Probably earning here his Hohenzollern cross worn on 3rd position. Where he earned his French Legion of honor officers grade and the cross just behind is also unknown.<o></o>

General der Infanterie Ernst Ludwig von ASTER has a quiet interesting career. He was born 1778, Started 1794 as Sergeant of Engineering in Saxon service, earned a St. Henry and a French Legion of Honor as Saxon Major on the French site in the 1812/13 campaign, went then in Russian service, earned the pour le merite in the 1813 campaign against France, became Colonel in 1814 and was Quartermaster in the Saxon-Weimar Army corps. From 1815 we find him in Prussian service, mostly also in the Engineeering branch. Here he earned a EK2, the Red Eagle 1 with oaks, the XXV, in 1844 he was “vonned” and received the Black Eagle. His Russian connections brought him a Wladimir 3 and a Anna 1 with Brilliants. The Prussian 1848 medal was his last award. He went 1849 aD as Kurator of the united Artillery and Engineers school and died 1855.
His quite nice portrait from the Priesdorff volumes shows him as GdI around 1852. Interesting, he wears still the Red Eagle 3 with bow although he already had the 1st class. Also odd, his homelands St.Henry is worn AFTER the French Legion of Honor.
