Hi, mates. An exiting thing happened to me this past saturday and i would like to share it with you. I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone and we were talking about this and that, but finally got down to awards. He had recently acquired a 1870 ek2 and since i had one too, we started to compare them, witch is quite difficult, on the phone.. Well, he suddenly noticed that there was a mark on the suspension ring and it was that of Wagner und sohn. I instantly said that it must be a later piece, because the older ones, to my knowlegde, didn't have any markings. I also noted that i had no mark on my piece, as i have known ever since i got it about 18 months ago. But still i checked it, suspencion ring was clear, no marks there. Then i suddenly noticed something were vague and tiny at the side of the little ring between cross and the suspension ring. I couldn't make it out, it so damned small, so i told my friend that i would have to wait to get a digitalcamera for closeups. After an hour on the phone we stopped said goodbye. Yesterday i phoned my friend with a digital camera, but he couln't make it that day. So another day wen't by.. Finally today, an hour ago, my mate showd up and we toke the pics. And no i have an maker marked 1870ek2. From the pic below, you can clearly see an "W", but rest was too much for the camera, i'll try get a closer look at it in a jewellors shop later. So two questions remain: What is the maker and from witch period is it? I have never seen a marked 1870ek2 before i saw Jani's one and the makermarks position is, IMO, quite interesting.. Opinions, PLEASE!

Antti,
If both of our crosses are Wagners, as it seems to be...

They are not from the same period, but from what period (?)

Don't forget Werner & Sohne, who is believed to have used the mark "WUS". Wanger pieces were more likely marked just "W".
Also, notice that there is another current thread about an 1870 EK2 with a WUS makers mark. Good luck.
