Really nice examples. I'm not used to seeing the Godet 'slim 7' core in anything other than the standard Godet frame, like Don's in post 11 of this thread. Is it common to see them in other frames, as we seem to have here?

    The Prinzen is awesome!
    Best regards,

        Ed,
I see it has finally arrived
I have studied the pictures of this one in "The Iron Time" many

Absolutely stunning! Is this the very same Spange that can be seen in The Iron Time? There can't be too many of them about...

Any chance of some more closeups of the core and the Spange?

It's a terrific contribution, thank you.
          Best regards,

This thread started off about EKs made between 1895 and the end of WWI, but after some nice additions of award-era Type A and Type B core 1870 EK2s with the Jubilaümsspangen, the scope has broadened a bit. I thought I'd post this photo of one of my favorite looking '25' oakleaf Spangen. The piece is not mine, but rather is culled from elsewhere on the forum. What I'm wondering is if anyone has seen this type before, or if anyone has one?

              Trevor,

The set I posted above is, in fact, the one that appears in THE IRON TIME. (Page 185 in the first edition and page 209 in the second edition)

Needless to say, I'm very pleased to have it in my collection!

              Regards,

              Ed

                Oh, wow. Superb!

The cross looks different from the one in the book (I have the 1st ed.) to me... the one you show seems nicer, with perhaps a different crown, and a repair to the jump ring. Is it the same cross as well?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm very curious to know: is this one attributed? Or is there any story behind it? Thank you.
                Best regards,
                Streptile

The four components of the set (ribbon, spange, oakleaves and the cross) are all the same as pictured in THE IRON TIME. Perhaps the way I have it mounted for display makes it appear different.

No attribution or provenance that I am aware of, but I'll check with Stephen at the upcoming MAX show to see if he has any information.

                  Regards,

                  Ed

Thank you for the additional photos.

The EK core details are absolutely magnificent -- one of the finest I've seen posted here. Thanks again....and please do update us if you hear anything regarding its provenance.

As a side note: is there an extant copy of the list of awardees of the 1914 EK2 who also earned the 1870 EK2? It couldn't be too terribly long.

Your display cabinet is what I'd like to build one day; it looks to be a beautifully disciplined collection of the finest EKs and devices. Of special interest to me is the presentation on different levels, all with glass pedestals and shelves. It's a treat to see, thank you.

                              Great set!
                              Best regards,

                                Hi Darryl,

Any chance you have a photo of the reverse of this one you could post?

                                Thanks very much.
