Here are a couple of 'goodies' I have kept over 15 years as examples of 'quality' badges. The wound badge had a pin like the sub badge. We live and hopefully we learn.

          High quality, but fake EK1

One piece, buntmetal, die-stamped! Maker marked deschlerSohn, just below the catch on the reverse. Exactly 43mm. X 43mm.

Rick, does this cross match the polish copy shown above?
Btw. they appear very often at german ebay; usually as a "Sammleranfertigung" (collectors copy) and are good for a reenactors uniform.

How can you identify it as a repro?

                        Identifying the repro MG badge

Good question, for which I don't have an answer.

In the original auction (which will disappear after a while), the seller decsribed the piece as:

Sehr schöne KOPIE eines MG Armabzeichen. R.S: C.E. Junker
Since I am reluctant to believe that somebody will knowingly offer a high-quality reproduction as a copy, when in fact it is not, I can only asume that the seller knows where it came from.

Does anyone know more about these frighteningly good copies?

                        /David

A FAKE Mecklenburger MVK 1. class (repost of Bobby Lees pics). Watch out for this type of pinback on Oldenburg, Braunschweig and Mecklenburger 1. class crosses!!!
