        Magnetic ?

Interesting. I have a 1st pinback class and a 2nd class version of these crosses. Both are non-magnetic and are die struct from nuesilber.

The Imperial ones have always been assumed to be 1920s-30s made.
As far as I know, we still have not identified the maker.

Are we sure they are by the same maker? The numbers are different (1 and9s).

I think they are. This style has some harsh angles in the frame beading
on the inside of the outer corners. It can be seen on both crosses.

Here is a closer view of the corners from one of mine.

                1's & 9's

Would not the cores be different dies since one is a 1914 and one is a 1939?
                Hence the different 1's & 9's.

But the "frames" share simularities. So, did they modify a working die of the 1914 cross for the 1939 cross?

or as suggested in the thread in the TR section, are all of these
                    FAKES?

Can we show a "fake" with these same characteristics?

The dates on these look pretty close but the crowns are harder to compare. I don't think any are a match.

                          Greg

The only person ever to say these were fakes was that know nothing on the TR forum a long time ago.
I bought them some time ago from a respected Hamburg dealer not to say he's not infallible.
And then Gordon Williamson looked at them for me. His opinion was positive. They are real. I think he even had a represented piece in his book.
Greg I've never seen you react in such a way.

                            Jimmy,
I have NO problem at all with the 1914. I can not say for sure on the 1939.
I was just reacting to Don's post. These have been accepted as original
for some time. Although I have to admit that the similarities to the polish
fake are amazing. In my humble opinion, the fakers used an original as
a master for making the fakes. The frames are spot on correct but there
is a diference to the core details. When I can get good close up
pictures of one of these fakes, I will show the differences.

Does anyone have one of the fakes that would like to share some pictures,
                            please send me a PM.

                            G.

Jimmy, I have no problem with yours either. I just see more of the fakes with the same numeral style popping up. Here is the one piece I own.
