Really nice Mike
I posted it already in a Brunswick thread, but I think here is also a good place for the next item.Attached FilesLast edited by Sergeant 08; 05-20-2009, 12:12 PM.

Paul, that is a interesting question. I would have to believe they were worn on clothing, hats, maybe flags. No way to attach it to a stein, pipe or flask. I have not seen a picture with these badges being worn. I am not even sure how they were given out. Here are two different type.. They are very well made and as you say "intricate pieces" which is very typical for the Imperail German era. MIkeAttached FilesLast edited by Mike Dunn; 05-21-2009, 12:58 PM.

The lettering of your badge is: Wehrfaehig. It means the man is ready for military service. I have seen other badges with inscriptions like: Ein Jahr zurück. It means (for example) the physical constitution was not ok and the man had to wait. He had to come back one year later.

The item in #26 is no Colonial badge (not Sudan but Sedan). It is a badge of the Sedan Tag in Germany. This day was celebrated in memory of the famous battle of Sedan (in the 1870 war). This badge is from the celebrations in 1895.Last edited by Sergeant 08; 05-21-2009, 01:05 PM.
