I am not sure what to search for. Can you be more specific?
Thank you for your help.
My best,

Prinzen?
Don't feel too bad, you are not alone with getting stuck with one of these. They've actually been around for quite a while, because I first bought one over twenty years ago. Beware, as they also come in 1870, 1914, first and second class. It could be worse, you could be like some poor chap I know, and be stuck with three of them.

These have been a disappointment for me, too. I have one that I cherished for many years that now sits in a drawer awaiting some final reckoning...
By the way, what are the measurements of that one, Vince? The ones I'm used to seeing are about 26mmx26mm, but that one seems like it could be larger. If so, it's news to me.Best regards,

Sorry to hear that so many of us have been burned by this item over the years. I know who sold this to me and will take aggressive action to get a full refund.
I do not have access to the cross at this time but it is very close to 26mm.
I see you are collecting 1957 items as well? I have just started collecting 1957 items and am having a blast. I have an L/11 mm 57 EK1.
Is this a legitimate maker? If it is magnetic whats your offer?
My best,
Vince

EDIT after PMs: Vince, if you had no intention of selling this piece for any price, why did you solicit an offer from me?Last edited by streptile; 04-16-2009, 10:06 AM.Best regards,

Three sizes!
After doing some looking around, some photshop relative-measurements, and some thinking, I believe that these popular fakes come in three sizes:
The one in this thread posted by sftrooper is about 33mm x 33mm:
The one in this thread, posted by yours truly, is a 26mm x 26mm (notice the different curvature of the arms, among other hallmarks of this, the smallest piece):
And the one in the last post post of the just-mentioned thread is a full-size - c.42mm x 42mm - 1813:
So, from what I can tell so far: The full size 42mm 1813's and the 26mm Prinzens have the distinctive "small crown" on both sides (see above), while the 33mm Prinzen (which appears to be the most common - also seen many other posts on the forum) has the small crown on the obverse and the somewhat larger crown on the reverse.
I post this all here in one place as a reference for future collectors: these are all almost certainly fake, and they exist in three sizes.Best regards,
Streptile
