    The EK1 is a TR era reissue piece. Nice grouping and always nice to see a face to these items.

      Don : Good observation ! I thought as much myself , since the photo shows him wearing a vaulted one , which I assume was his ' original ' one awarded to him in WWI .

        Just an additional information:

        The Schleswig-Holsteinisches Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 9 was stationed in
        Ehrenbreitstein (a great fortification on top of the mountains near Koblenz).

          I've been to the Ehrenbreitstein. A remarkable example of 18th and 19th century fortification. It was almost demolished after WW2 as part of the demilitarization of Germany. Fortunately an officer with a sense of history prevented its destruction since forts like this were obselete. I have a tourist book at home somewhere.
