Hedi with her sister, the last A7V known to be made. What chassis she was made from is not known. The unidentified sister was not known to exist until recently.

Looks like it to me when compared to another postcard pic of it pulled off the web. Sorry for the poor quality.

This was the tank that was captured after a skirmish at Reims and was later sent back to the States and studied at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Tragically, it was cut up and completely lost in 1942 for reasons unknown. Steve
Its directly related to an inept army officer being charged with operating a museum.

OK. That leaves the following with no pics:

501 Gretchen - full size pic
          526 Fritz or Alter Fritz
541 if not the same as 540
          560
          564

What number / name is this one?

It amazes me that they crammed an 18 man crew into these and sometimes carried up to 24 pax inside.

How true on the inept officer bit Don. Can you imagine? That one actually made it past the Versailles reparations and scapping treaty provisions and was still destroyed. As to the crew, it must have been enourmous. And the heat!

Not to mention the foul air as the guns started blazing away.

                        Terrific thread
One of the things that really interests me in ww1 is the change in
technology. The first use of tanks, airplanes ect.
