    Help with Photo Album please!

    Gentlemen,
I purchased this album ten years ago from the estate of one of the earliest OMSA members who actively collected Medals & Decorations from 1924 until his death in 1996.

Here is the information I have been able to find so far. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This appears to be a presentation album to Oberst von Widdern, Army Bishop. When he was made a Cardinal in 1884, the officers of the 4th Baden Infantry Regiment (Prince Wilhelm) presented this album of their photographs to him. Upon his death in 1909, it was returned to the Regiment. A signed statement from the regimental commander seems to verify this. Cover is bound in blue velvet affixed with a bronze & silver plaque. The plaque inscription reads

    Seinem scheidenden Kameraden
    das Offizier Corps
    des 4. Badischen
    Infantrie = Regiments,
    Prinz Wilhelm,
    No. 112.

There are 60 places for photos, but 2 are missing. Beneath each photo is the officer's name and rank written in pencil. The cover is still intact, but weak and needs to be handled with care.
I have also included several photos.
I would like to know the value of the album for insurance purposes and anything else about it you might be able to share. Thanks guys.

The rest of the album continues with four portrait photos per page with name and rank written below.

I'd sure like to know who each of these men were. I think I have a couple of these photos in my Great-grandfather's album and they do not have names. The photos are of the same period!

You could do us ALL a great favor letting us see the names of each of these men.

                          For Brian
                          Clockwise from top left
                          Oberst v Münenberg
                          Major v Spankeren
                          Major Fiedler
                          Major von Müller

I am not good at reading Sutterlin. Additionally many of the ranks have been abbreviated. I have tried taking photos of the other names but the writing is so light as to be indecipherable when taken under artificial light. I'll try taking others in natural light. If I can get readable pictures, perhaps someone else will be able to shed more light on them.

Again, can anyone place a value on this album?

Evidently not enough interest to comment about?
Thanks anyway - I'll try another site.

No THIS IS GREAT. Trust me, most people on ANY site have very little interest in the pre-1900 personalities. You'll find I'm ONE of the very very few. COME BACK.
