    Hi Daniel,

    That's just the English phrase for it. Here in Holland I believe they call it Militaire Willems Orde. My Grandfather had a lower grade of this.

    Any idea how it could end up in a German bar ?

      Same way he got the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun in the middle of the large pre-WW1 ribbon bar (it's not on his medal bar as an enemy nation in WW1): probably by standing in line at a parade somewhere! And it was the Netherlands House Order of Orange-Nassau-Officer that he got.

      Everything here matches the period references except the Prussian Crown 3rd being swapped by a 4th class.

      Very very weird precedence, since he was a Waldeck Inf Rgt 83 guy!

        Another part from Oberst Niemeyer.... You could see and buy the whole things for 4 years in Germany - 12000,- DM... One day in 2001 - the dollar was on his top - manions bought it and offered it for more than 5000,- $.

        Nobody wanted Niemeyer complete....

          Karl Niemeyer, Inf Rgt 83. In 1902 Oberstleutnant ( 22.4.02 R2r) on Staff of Inf Rgt 56.

          char. Oberst zur Disposition 22.4.05 and commander of Landwehrbezirk Bielefeld until retired 1913.

          Recalled for WW1, commanded Brigade Ersatz Bataillon 27 and re-retired as Generalmajor aD.

          Died 13 February 1925.
