    A Sad, but true story....

Awesome medal bar. Manion's. Closes in 3 hours, give or take. Small problems.... Has a 1914 EK2, should be an 1870?? They state in the description that the BZL is a "Commander's Cross". Loads of paper items for this Colonel..., but no documents. Here's the bar:

            And the reverse of...

... the ca. 1897 Medal Bar.... Can't figure out why he has a Red Eagle, but not the crown order. Wasn't the PCO4 awarded before the RAO4?? Or am I just confused??

I think you must be confused--for wasting your time on Manions! Mike

The two Rickies were just discussing this on the phone:

A Wicked Person (inward may their buttocks hair ever grow! moremad ) has actually REMOVED a Prussian Crown Order 3rd class from the medal bar and stuck in a cheaper 4th in its place. At least they didn't muck with the Waldeck awards, oy!

                The things baboons will do!

And actually the 1914 EK2 is correct, for dredged out of retirement he was a Seriously Too Senior Ersatz Battalion commander.

                  Regarding Manions

You can say what you want, you can say what you will. I have more than compensated my "annual fee" in authentic items I have bought at Manion's.... and made money on.
This falls under the following rule:

                  Collecting rule #32a (1):
Thou shalt know what thou buyest.

                    <------ me reading this thread.

Are the ribbon bars good, but medal bar adulterated?

Were they supposedly from same individual but sold separately?

What is the real loss here, a missed opportunity to unite/reunite these items?

(no answers required, just expressing my yearning to understand all -- do I really have that much time, hmmm

So the EK2 would have been his last decoration to receive, he never updated his ribbon bar for it.

                        responding....

For Vincent: yes, all items belonged to one man and they were sold as different lots.

For Dez: The lot came with the post 1915 style ribbon bar as well, that one had the EK on it. At least they left bar with the group!

If You ever want to sell it........

I also think that some moron "played" with that medal bar. It would need a closer inspection.

                          Best regards

                            Hi all,

Am I correct to recognise a Militaire Willems Orde the second one on the right ?

If I'm correct, this is a Dutch medal. Any idea why it's there ?

                            MfG,
                            Bart

                              Hi Bart,

no Willems Order. It is the House order of Orange.

                              Best regards
