It looks a little sloppy if you ask me. Look at the rim of the center.

Actually, it does have the Wagner die or finishing flaw on the upper left arm (Looking at the obverse). I understand that some very early ones 1864, 1866, etc. have a narrow oese unlike the later ball shaped fitting. This could be a banged around early one. Are there any markings and is it gold? If gold, I say it is real, if not is a wagner made spangenstuck.

Weight = 13.5 grams. She is as hollow as my head. So how to I check if she is gold? No markings.

Well Marc,
I would not exactly say you are dumb, in fact just the opposite. So where does that leave us. It looks like real gold to me, so if it is also hollow, I say you have a damned rare piece. Real gold would not be marked except in some cases a maker mark may be applied. Maybe we can get some help from Andreas. On second thought, just send it to me. It is a little worn and I can dispose of it for you.

I am curious about the flaw in the upper left arm. I have one of these medals with what looks to be a flaw there. It also looks to have a flaw on the top arm. There are no marking and i would say it's made out of brass not gold. Any info would be great. Thanks
