Real or fake?

Actually, it does have the Wagner die or finishing flaw on the upper left arm (Looking at the obverse). I understand that some very early ones 1864, 1866, etc. have a narrow oese unlike the later ball shaped fitting. This could be a banged around early one. Are there any markings and is it gold? If gold, I say it is real, if not is a wagner made spangenstuck.

I would not exactly say you are dumb, in fact just the opposite. So where does that leave us. It looks like real gold to me, so if it is also hollow, I say you have a damned rare piece. Real gold would not be marked except in some cases a maker mark may be applied. Maybe we can get some help from Andreas. On second thought, just send it to me. It is a little worn and I can dispose of it for you.
