    Imperial Colonial Coins

I saw a thread recently on collecting Imperial German coins and then came upon a few myself. Not a collector, but they seemed very interesting. Several colonial including one in Arabic. For you collectors, are these fairly common? I know condition is important but these seem scarce in my experience. Thanks.

other side, the smaller one doesn't have the poor finish that seems to show from my scanner.

I have a habit of picking up WW1 coins to display with my personal items that a soldier would have carried. I have never seen one of these before, but if I had, I would have bought it. I would bet most of these got left in the colonies and perhaps the silver reused to make new coins of the victors. I would bet the one with the arabic writing is a token produced by a local company that could be redeemed by them. It was common to see this due to a shortage of minted coins, such as the tokens seen during our Civil War. Nice pieces!

These are not colonial but it seems coins for the "90 Day Kaiser" should be scarce.

Another non-colonial but the Kaiser in GdK uniform seemed neat. The coin is in a protective holder hence the minor distortion.

                        500,000 2 Mark, 200,000 5 Mark. The 1888 WilhelmII is much scarcer with only 141,000 in 2 and 56,000 in 5.

Tom, Many thanks for the information. It makes sense that Willy II would also have had an 1888 coinage, never crossed my mind. Good to know.
                          Best regards,
