BTW, what IS the approximate price for an 1870 EK that IS real?

A friend reported that an original period Godet 1870 EKI with side hooks sold at the last SOS for something in the neighborhood of $4200. Period Godet being the key phrase here.
Other examples of genuine 1870 EKIs can be had for a much lesser premium. Somewhere from $6-700 and up depending on the period and most importantly the condition and the collector eye appeal. Actual values are very subjective and are generally agreed upon between the buyer and the seller.
