    Wow, the enamel looks like brand new in my eyes, the ribbon looks like that it was heavily worn, but thats maybe only my opinion

                Was not aware of that rule. I have nothing to do with the sale and not
                bidding just to make it clear. I dont have expert knowledge on
                this award. But PLM interest me and would like to learn.
                It might also interest the forum, as this is a rare sought after award.
                The pics I have attached dont match the high Res. ones from the site.

                There are a few things that puzzles me about this cross, that why I have
                posted this thread.

                      There is not the smallest scratch or damage visible on the reverse of the PLM, and that on a 100+ year old piece, maybe it was newly enameld or so?

                        I have worked with the images. The Ri in rite. The detail in the enamel work dont match what I could find on a few images of other Wagner pieces. But could of course be a later piece? Thats just my observations and could be wrong. Its general looks great, but was just not convinced. Up to now there also seem to be mixed opinions.


                        It is marked W but no mention of a silver marking.

                          The enlargements seem to suggest the cross may have been reenamelled, and fairly crudely so (assuming the basic cross itself is good, which one would need to check further).

                            The crown/F spacing/angle may be a bit different to the ones shown here

                            , but that could also be a result of the angle at which some of the pics are taken.

                            Otherwise, on a very quick comparison of the crosses themselves, I saw no obvious red flags. So my impression so far is that the thread starter is possibly an original Wagner cross with (poorly) reapplied enamel. A concern in relation to the cross proper though is the absence of a 938 silver content mark, as Nicolai already pointed out.

                            The pics of the piece shown here seem to suggest re application of the enamel, not chipping from wear.
