Here is a "Blue Max" award that was given to a friend by a German WWII vet. He has had this for many years and the Vet is long deceased. A jeweler claims it to be gold. In hand I can say it is of remarkable quality. The box is a repro used for display and safe keeping. Could someone with the proper knowledge see if these pics are adequate enough to determine if this is a wartime award or not. Thanks.

The detail certainly appears to be there. The ribbon looks good as well...to me that is. I haven't looked at enough crowns to have an opinion on it.
I have an S&L but I'm FAR from an expert on these, especially war time examples.Comment

Thanks guy's. That is an interesting education on these but I'm still a bit lost on where mine fit's. Pre war, mid war or after war, since it has the 50 anniversary crown? But yes, definitely a Rothe from what I'm reading and seeing.Comment
