    Roland Bremen 1919 Badge

    Hi all,
my first post on this forum and I hope this is in the right place.
I obtained this badge about 10years ago and never really found out much about it's history. My mothers family are from Bremen and I just bought it on a whim, but never researched it's meaning before or since.
I am hoping more experienced collectors could shed a little light on it's background, meaning and value.
It is oval in shape, made of brass by the look.
It reads "Vryheit do ik ju openbar. Bremen 1919"
In the center is the famous statue of Roland from Bremen, size is 45 x 30mm, no makers marks on the back
I would post some pictures but can't upload them from my PC (is there a trick to this?)
Any and all assistance most welcome.
    cheers
    Marty

    Marty,

please send your pictures to me, I will post them for you ( portellen2@aol.com ) , reverse is needed!!!

This badge is one of many from the "german revolution" after ww1, 1919-1923, a badge of one of the many Freikorps. There are many fakes around and only some originals so we need a photo to say more...

Hi Don, I would agree with you about the '57 style pin.

Hi Marty, Detlev's book shows two versions of this badge. One unmarked with a pin with a wide hinge and another marked to "Gustav Adolf Muller, Bremen" with another type of pin set up.

Value was listed as $150 in 2004.

              Cheers, Ade.

                  What's a 57pin? Havn't heard that expression before

Hi Marty, it is the type of pin used on 1957 pattern awards. They are "semi broad" in shape and were not used before that date.

                    Cheers, Ade.
