What I could read out in the Birthday wishes of the SED was, that this person was after WW2 at a Antifa-School in the Soviet Union and returned back to the DDR in 1948 and was a member of a "marxistisch-leninistische Kampfpartei".. KPD?? joined the Volkpolizei round 1953..in the early 70's he has then joined the Party (SED) and in 1982 he was already Party Secretary(Parteisekretär in the SED of the VPKA Brandenburg) ...very interesting person.

I need to correct some dates as I had another look through the Urkundes.

He joined the VP in 21.Sep 1948...and joined the SED in 1953..

He retired from the VP sometimes between 1983 - 1984..
The last medal he was awarded was in Sep.1983 for 35 years faithful service..
The second Police Medal of Hounor,he became in Jul.1982..

              Thalmannpioneer.

Very nice grouping. Impressive. Well done. Perhaps Skip or Ralph (who is very busy at the moment), can provide more information as to the Stasi connection.

As to the medal you inquired about - certain medals could be awarded multiple times. I'm not really clear on this one because I haven't researched Polizei medals as thorough as I have the NVA medals. If this medal is one of the kind that was awarded multiple times, then if there is more that one Urkunde, it is logical to assume he received multiple medals. He may have anyway, and was just authorized to wear the one. That is also possible.

There are a few members on this forum who have a vested interest in the MdI side of the house, and perhaps they will see your post and be able to respond and better answer your question.

                Hey Mike...thanks!!!

Hey Thälmannpionier...With Mr Conrad with having the XX (1970) and XXV (1975) anniversary he did have a connection to the STASI while he was assigned to the VoPo during his career. Not all VoPo recieved urkundes from the STASI, only persons that had a connection or worked with the STASI.

                Question for you:
When did Mr Conrad retire from the VoPo?
Do you have any other STASI urkundes, badges, or items from Mr Conrad?

Hey Thälmannpionier...Your medal you posted concerns me from the stand point that I believe that it is not real and that it is a reproduction. I have also posted a picture of why I believe your medal is not real.

DDR medals have a circular hinge on the medal and the medal you have pictured is showing a U shape hinge.

Questions and constructive comments very much appericated from the forum members.

                    Hi Ralph

Thanks for your info about the Stasi badge.

It is not really a must for a DDR medal to have a single ring attached to the medal. This changed on some medals during the years..
Here is an Example from a catolog of this medal

the difference to my medal is that the backside of mine is plain.

I only could get the Urkundes without any medal
I will have a look through the documents just after lunch, to find out when he did retire
                      cheers

Hey Andreas...thanks for the quick response. Your welcome for the STASI info...

I for sure would be very interested in knowing more information of the catalog and what the catalog discusses about the medal with the U shape hinge.

My stance is this about U shape hinged medals, be very cautious with these medals when buying them from other vendors or from the internet.
